Vistaril Dosage

To treat patient for vistaril for anxiety and tension the recommended adult Vistaril dosage is 50–100 mg q.i.d. For the same reason, children under 6 years should take a Vistaril dosage of 50 mg daily in divided doses; and children over 6 years should use Vistaril dosage of 50–100 mg daily in divided doses.

For treating a patient with management of pruritus due to allergic conditions such as chronic urticaria and atopic and contact dermatoses, and in histamine-mediated pruritus, an adult Vistaril dosage of 25 mg t.i.d. or q.i.d.; For treating children with the same symptoms, under 6 years is recommended with Vistaril dosage of 50 mg daily in divided doses; and over 6 years, 50–100 mg daily in divided doses.

When used as a premedication and general anesthesia: Vistaril Dosage of 50–100 mg in adult patient and Vistaril Dosage of 0.6 mg/kg in children are recommended. When treatment is initiated by the intramuscular route of administration, subsequent Vistaril Dosage may be administered orally.

The dosage should be adjusted according to the patient’s response and requirement when it is used with other medications.  Some use as vistaril for sleep

Vistaril Side Effects

Like all other medicines Vistaril may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Contact your health care provider is your notice these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using Vistaril: Drowsiness and dry mouth.

Immediate medical attention is advised if any of these severe side effects occur when using Vistaril: Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); involuntary movements.

Vistaril Side Effects: Side effects reported with the use of Vistaril are usually mild and transitory in nature whcich includes Anticholinergic: Dry mouth.

Vistaril Side Effects affects on Central Nervous System: Drowsiness is noticed in some patients and it may disappear in a few days of continued therapy or upon reduction of the dose.Very rare instances of tremor and convulsions, has been reported and this happens when overdose is administered. Clinically significant respiratory depression has not been reported at recommended doses.

Body as a Whole: Allergic reaction, Nervous System: headache, Psychiatric: hallucination, Skin and Appendages: pruritus, rash, urticaria
