Vistaril for Anxiety

Vistaril Tablets (hydroxyzine pamoate) is used to treat patient for anxiety, tension.

Dosage of Vistaril for Anxiety: To treat patient for anxiety and tension the recommended adult Vistaril for anxiety dosage is 50–100 mg q.i.d. For the same reason, children under 6 years should take a Vistaril for anxiety dosage of 50 mg daily in divided doses; and children over 6 years should use Vistaril for anxiety dosage of 50–100 mg daily in divided doses. Vistaril dosage should be adjusted according to the patient’s response and requirement when it is used with other medications.

Warning: Vistaril for Anxiety should not be taken if you have a hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine, and is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Interactions of Vistaril for Anxiety: Vistaril can potentially tinteract with several medications including narcotics, analgesics and barbituates. The effect of alcohol may also be increased when taking Vistaril.

Side effects of Vistaril for Anxiety: Some common side effects of Vistaril for Anxiety include dry mouth and drowsiness; however these effects are usually mild and short-lived. Cognitive effects are also possible such as confusion, nervousness and irritability. vistaril for sleep

Vistaril Side Effects: Vistaril side effects reported with the use of Vistaril are usually mild and transitory in nature which includes Anticholinergic: Dry mouth.

Vistaril Side Effects affects central nervous system: Drowsiness is noticed in some patients and it may disappear in a few days of continued therapy or upon reduction of the dose. Very rare instances of tremor and convulsions, has been reported and this happens when overdose is administered.

Body as a Whole: Vistaril side effects include allergic reaction, Nervous System: headache, Psychiatric: hallucination, Skin and Appendages: pruritus, rash, urticaria

Vistaril Side Effects by Body Systems: In this case Nervous system side effect of moderate to slight drowsiness is noticed in some patients.  This effect is usually transitory and may disappear with continued therapy or upon discontinuation of the agent. Headache, fatigue, depression, insomnia, sedation, and nervousness have also been reported.  With higher than recommended doses, involuntary motor activity such as tremor and convulsions has been reported in rare instances.

Vistaril for Anxiety is reported with some respiratory side effects which includes the thickening of bronchial secretions. Rare occurrences of pharyngitis, bronchospasm, and epistaxis have also been reported.

Cardiovascular side effects have included palpitations, hypotension, and edema.

Dermatologic side effects have included angioedema, photosensitivity, and rash.

Genitourinary side effects have included rare cases of urinary retention and prolonged penile erections.

Special caution should be exercised if driving, operating dangerous machinery, or participating in hazardous activities while using Vistaril. Risk of overdose is low with the result generally being hyper-sedation.
